Design project of «Respublika» residential complex, 41 sq.m.

Halfee presents a detailed design of an apartment in the residential complex Respublika. We had a small living space at our disposal, so it was important to preserve the functionality of the interior, provide enough free space with all the necessary elements. The skills and experience of our specialists allowed us to achieve the desired goals.

General concept of the interior

When developing the project, we took into account modern design trends. The following solutions were key:

  • using a calm cream shade as a base shade with the addition of dark brown and black tones;
  • combining the kitchen and living room into a single room, which is divided into functional areas thanks to visual elements;
  • application of a minimalist concept using only the really necessary furniture and other components;
  • use of natural textures and materials that do not harm people and the environment.

Wood and natural stone were used in the interior decoration to minimise the use of environmentally harmful plastics. The lighting is dominated by a cold colour spectrum, which has a positive effect on the eyes and creates a cosy, natural atmosphere. The spotlights are integrated into the suspended ceiling to avoid overloading the space with unnecessary components.

Styling the kitchen-living room

Despite the overall design concept of the apartment, the style of the kitchen is distinctive. The functional area is located in a separate corner of the room and is represented by the following elements:

  • kitchen set with dark brown bottom and side parts, made of wood;
  • the light upper part of the kitchen unit, located directly above the worktop;
  • black stone worktop with stylised natural scuff marks;
  • An induction hob and sink with mixer tap are integrated into the worktop, and an oven is built into the side of the unit.

Right next to the kitchen unit is a table on a massive oval leg with a round top. It is styled in dark grey. The wall next to it and the upholstered chairs are white, which creates an interesting colour contrast. Above the table there are two pendant chandeliers with round glass shades.

For additional lighting, spotlights are integrated into the stretch ceiling, and LED strip is also used under the kitchen unit to locally illuminate the cooking area and save energy.

The design of the living room deserves special attention, as it is seamlessly intertwined with the kitchen area. Cream and dark brown colours remain unchanged in the design, but are complemented by a massive grey wall. To create a cosy atmosphere, the living room has a corner sofa with light brown upholstery. Next to it is a small grey coffee table with an oval top.

The other wall in the living room is entirely white, with a large plasma TV hanging on it. Below it is a grey hanging shelf for various necessary items. There is also a shelving unit with six shelves and transparent glass. It can be used to store crockery, glasses, alcoholic beverages or other items.

The flooring in the kitchen-living room is a light brown laminate with a rectangular texture. A grey rug is placed under the sofa to separate the functional area and protect the floor from being pressed or damaged by large furniture. The room is air conditioned to create an optimal microclimate.

Features of the bedroom interior

The specialists used a calm style of the bedroom with a dominance of dark brown and white colours. The central element of the room is a double bed with soft grey upholstery. On one side of it is a brown hanging cabinet, on the other – a black oval table. They have an important functional value – you can put a book here or put your smartphone on charge (there are several sockets nearby).

An important part of the bedroom is a large wardrobe with black sliding doors. It provides organised storage of bed linen, outerwear, shoes and accessories, as the space is divided into open shelves, a pipe for hanging outerwear on hangers, drawers, etc.

There is a large plasma TV on the white wall opposite the bed. If you want to be more active, you can use the nearby wall bars. It’s perfect for a variety of exercises and keeping fit. The bedroom is lit not only with spotlights in the stretch ceiling, but also with a bedside sconce to limit the brightness of the light before going to bed.

Bathroom decoration

The bathroom and toilet in the apartment are small, but equipped with all the elements for a functional apartment design. The room is stylised in black, grey and dark brown colours and features the following components:

  • rectangular grey washbasin made of natural stone;
  • a rectangular mirror above the washbasin, with LED lighting, placed on a dark wall;
  • a dark-coloured wall-hung toilet with a flush button built into the wall, a toilet paper holder, a towel rail and a niche for storing various accessories.

To save space, a shower cabin was installed instead of a bathroom. It is located behind a transparent door; inside, the wall is decorated with black tiles with white patterns. The lighting is provided by spotlights in the ceiling along with local LED lighting in certain areas.

Other rooms in the apartment

The turnkey renovation of an apartment in the Respublika residential complex also includes a small study. Given the limited amount of free space, the balcony was used for its arrangement. We managed to get a functional area with a work desk, an armchair, an open shelf and a hanging wardrobe where you can have some privacy. The wide panoramic window provides ample access to natural light, but the dark Roman blinds on it allow you to adjust the light level.

Upon entering the apartment, the family and guests will find themselves in a cosy entrance hall. It is decorated in cream and dark brown colours with light brown wooden flooring. There are functional elements such as an ottoman for taking off shoes, hangers for outerwear, umbrellas, accessories, as well as a shelf with open shelves for storing various small items and attractive elements.

The cost of renovating the apartment with materials corresponds to the budgetary constraints that were initially announced by the apartment owner. We managed to squeeze the maximum out of the space and make it a cosy corner in Kyiv. It will be a pleasure to come back here after a hard day’s work to relax, train, study, and spend time with family and friends.
