Transforming a small apartment into a comfortable space begins with well-thought-out planning and space zoning. In a 34 m² area, it’s crucial to utilize every centimeter optimally to ensure convenience and aesthetics. In our project, we combined the kitchen and living room, creating an open space that looks airy and bright. This solution allows the resident to interact freely between zones, whether cooking or relaxing.
In the bedroom, we integrated several functional areas: a sleeping area, a workspace, and storage systems. The bed was positioned to leave space for a compact desk and a built-in wardrobe. The hallway includes a built-in closet for clothes and household appliances, as well as a hidden area for the washing machine and dryer, which saves space and adds neatness. The kitchen features an L-shaped unit with tall cabinets (penals), providing ample storage for dishes and appliances.
To conceal communications in the living room area, we used a TV stand that not only masks wires but also adds a stylish look to the interior. Such apartment replanning allows for the creation of a harmonious space where every zone fulfills its function without cluttering the apartment.
Floor and wall finishing plays a key role in creating the apartment’s atmosphere. For flooring, we chose to install quartz-vinyl flooring with a light oak imitation in the kitchen, living room, bedroom, and hallway. This material combines the natural beauty of wood with high wear resistance, which is especially important for areas with heavy use. The total floor area covered was about 30 m², ensuring a unified style throughout the space. In the bathroom, we used light beige matte porcelain stoneware. This material was applied to both the floor and walls, creating a striking look thanks to the built-in shower drain.
The apartment walls were prepared with exceptional care: plastering, puttying, and wall leveling were performed, providing an ideal base for subsequent finishing. For painting, we chose matte paint in beige tones, which adds warmth and coziness to the room. In the bedroom, vertical accent MDF panels, extending to the ceiling with a width of 2 m, were installed near the bed, creating a modern and refined appearance. Horizontal MDF panels were used in the TV area of the living room, adding textural contrast. The kitchen backsplash is finished with marble-look porcelain stoneware measuring 1200×600 mm, which looks elegant and is easy to clean. In the bathroom, the walls are clad with travertine-texture porcelain stoneware combined with moisture-resistant chipboard panels, ensuring durability and style.
Ceilings in the apartment play an important role in creating a modern look and comfortable lighting. We installed stretch ceilings in all rooms, providing a perfectly smooth surface and the possibility of integrating lighting. An LED strip is built into the perimeter of the bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and hallway, creating soft and even light, emphasizing coziness. LED spotlights provide the main illumination, and hidden curtain niches in the bedroom and living room add elegance, allowing the curtains to look weightless.
Lighting is key to creating atmosphere. A wall sconce is installed above the desk in the bedroom, providing comfortable light for work or reading. The kitchen features lighting for the work area, making food preparation convenient and safe. This combination of lighting allows the space to be adapted to different needs: from active work to relaxation.
Plumbing and electrical work are the foundation of the apartment’s functionality. In the bathroom, we installed a wall-hung toilet with an installation system, a shower system with a rain and hand shower in chrome finish, and a tempered glass partition with a thickness of 8 mm. A sink with a mixer complements the functionality, and a water-based heated floor ensures comfort during the cold season. The kitchen features a stainless steel sink and a modern mixer, and gas equipment has been connected.
Electrical work included laying new wiring with modern USB sockets in the bedroom and kitchen, allowing for convenient gadget charging. Switches are located in convenient places, and TVs in the bedroom and living room are connected discreetly, which adds neatness. An air conditioner is installed in the bedroom for a comfortable microclimate, and the lighting in the kitchen work area makes it practical for daily use.
The final stage of renovation is adding details that make the space unique. We hung beige translucent curtains in the bedroom and living room, which let in light but ensure privacy. The entrance door with black hardware adds contrast and a modern style. For coziness, textile rugs were placed in the bedroom and under the desk, adding warmth and softness.
